De Colores has been sung as a rallying and organizing song in the fields and as a reminder of cultural pride in schools throughout and beyond the Eastside. For many of us, De Colores evokes a legacy of history, social justice, culture, solidarity, and song.
In response to this call, the phrase can also be interpreted in a literal sense as an exploration of many colors. We also welcome stories that build on the meaning of the phrase itself, especially as the seasons turn and we notice the changing landscape alongside the beauty of so many colors that make up our vibrant Eastside landscapes.
