AMA

By Kenny Solorio

What if she didn’t have a soul? You left home and I yelled “ama!” That’s not how it is said, it is said mom I thought you were gone forever Like my dad but you went to work, to work Every once in a while, my life will end I have no soul, no human skin I have no face, and I stand above the lake I am an angel, in a dysfunction When you didn’t love me, I changed into a thief Stealing everything that seems good to me Candy, laughter, and blood too But you always came back From work and held me To end my terror Thank you for being present And giving me a heart.
