EASTSIDE SUNSETS

My favorite color is sunset, 

Ever changing, glowing into the night. 

Casting shadows all over the world, 

Giving us silhouettes and reflections as we lose the light.

Looking at sunsets reminds me of life,

The beauty in the rays that illuminate the path. 

With shadows that drape behind us, 

Consuming us with a dark wrath.

As someone who has lived all over San José,

My favorite sunsets are in the east. 

It’s where I learned how to be a man, 

And control my inner beast. 

Countless of hours spent with sunsets, watching as the sun slips into the horizon. 

Preparing myself for times of darkness, as I was stuck waiting for the light in the sky to brighten.

The colors in the sky give me a different kind of hope, and allowed me to take deep breaths of clarity. 

Reflecting on yesterday, learning from today, and preparing for tomorrows serenity. 

There is just something about those East Side Sunsets
