I LOOK BACK
I LOOK BACK
By Marissa may Macaraeg Martinez
i look back
just because that’s where
my eye wanders sometimes
sometimes with bitterness
and questions
questioning the feeling,
the sadness and regret
.
i look back
and close my eyes
wishing it looked rosier
roses blossom over time and
tell me it’s okay to have a past
passing all the twists and turns
as i keep holding on
.
i look back
remembering everything
i learned along the way
ways i carried what weighed me down
instead of looking forward
forward is where i am
and my eyes have never looked brighter
““...tell me it’s okay to have a past...””
