UN FUTURO MEJOR

By Carlos Villareal IV

What does solidarity mean to me? It means coming together as a community! That’s why I got vaccinated, to lead our community and families to a better future. Getting vaccinated wasn’t only about protecting myself; it was about protecting my family and the community. By sharing more information about the vaccinations and by stopping the spread of misinformation, our communities and families can continue to work to improve the numbers in our communities in order to save lives.

Getting the vaccine was a choice that not only made sure I’m safe, it made sure others are safe too, and that’s what people want, that feeling of safety and security wherever they are. Getting the vaccine ensures that my parents and grandparents are safe by minimizing more severe risks of COVID. As we continue to lift precautionary measures, like wearing masks in public spaces, it is even more important that we continue to encourage people to get vaccinated.

In many ways, I feel my decision is a commitment to keeping families as safe as possible. In that way, I feel a sense of reassurance that in doing our part, we make this year easier on all of us, especially after the difficult year we’ve all had. So, when you question the vaccine, think about more than yourself. Think about the loved ones you’re surrounded by and your commitment to keeping them safe.
