UNITY
By Ashley Vielma
United we stand
Divided we fall
That’s a heavy message
For those who never got the call
It’s a confusing message
For those who were never included at all
It’s a laughable message
When you’ve always been made to feel small
Black history month is present
Yet there’s no celebrations or postings I can recall How can we flex diversity
When there’s no seat at the table and we have to continue to crawl You say we can’t forget y’all
Yet the black community is blockaded by racisms wall We need to rebuild, rethink, overhaul
Before we can truly be united, overall.
