Chile, Mole, Pozole

East San José is a working-class neighborhood of immigrants — nearly half of East San José’s population is foreign born. Of those, half are from Latin America and half from Asia. In efforts to pay homage to a population of East San José immigrating from Mexico and deliver a place of belonging, the Plaza delivers culturally relevant programming to East San José and Chile, Mole, Pozole, is one of many.

“'Chile, Mole, Pozole' is a family-friendly event that celebrates Mexican culture while also honoring Mexico’s independence and freedom. Our annual event invites all our neighbors to celebrate with us at the Plaza. Mayfair serves as a landing pad for our immigrant communities, and there couldn’t be a better backdrop in our city for this event to take place.” – Deputy Director, Jonathan Borca, emphasizes the significance of hosting a Mexican Independence Day celebration in East San José.
